TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Usain Bolt has advice for Tokyo 2020 athletes and is excited to watch the Games.

Bolt And Japan

Bolt holds the world record for both the 100 and 200-meter sprint. Because of that, his word carries a lot of weight for incoming athletes. The 100-meter sprint world record is 9.58 seconds and it was set by Bolt in 2009. Bolt set the 200-meter sprint world record the same year with a time of 19.19 seconds.

Bolt definitely sees the potential in upcoming athletes. Abdul Hakim Sani Brown is a Japanese athlete currently attending the University of Florida. Sani Brown runs a 100-meter sprint with a time of 9.97 seconds. Sani Brown now holds the Japanese national record with that time.

"I think he has a lot of potential for the future as he is still young. With the right coaching and advice, he can get even faster and hopefully make the Olympic final next year," said Bolt.

Usain Bolt said that he believes that people are capable of running faster than he ever did. With the right training, Sani Brown could be that athlete. But being the competitor that he is, Bolt wants his records to “stay for some years to come.”

Bolt further went on to say that the Japanese have great athletes. He said although they are not fast individually, they are well drilled. Bolt said that is why they ended up in second for the 4x100-meter relay in Rio 2016.

The Spectator Life

But he would not get the full experience due to the fact he had to compete himself. Now as a spectator, he will finally have the time to enjoy himself at the Olympics. He will likely watch these sports among others while he is in Tokyo.

But that isn’t all Bolt has to say about the upcoming Olympics. The sprint legend has some advice for the athletes who will compete.

"It is important to go out there and enjoy the moment. Sometimes it is better not to read everything that is written about you or worry what people are saying ahead of the competition," said Bolt.
