BEIJING, China – The pair figure skating gold medal event is set to begin on Friday and based on the odds, China and the Russian Olympic Committee are coming down to the wire to win the gold medal.

The Chinese figure skating pair team is made up of two experienced figure skaters in Sui Wenjing and Han Cong. The two have been paired together in the pair figure skating event since winning their first gold medal way back in 2011. Together, they have won 14 total gold medals in the pair events. Those include two World Championships, six at the Four Continents Championships, One at the Grand Prix, three Junior World Championships, and two Junior Grand Prix’s. The two also won the silver medal for the pair event back in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Anastasia Mishina, Aleksandr Galliamov (ROC)

The pair of Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov for the ROC, although might not have as much experience that China does, could turn out to be a great story, and their figure skating odds certainly back that. The two have been paired for some time and have won seven total gold medals together with their first coming in 2016 at the Junior Grand Prix. Since then, they have captured gold at the 2018 Junior Grand Prix, World Junio Championships, World Team Trophy, European Championships, and World Championships.

It is also worth noting that they each won gold in the team figure skating event at this year's 2022 Winter Olympics. What makes this a great story is that they made their World Championship debut in 2021 and have yet to miss an opportunity at a gold medal. They are also the second-youngest pair to win the World Championships.

Miho Takagi, Jutta Leerdam Heavy Favorites To Win 1000m Speed Skating

BEIJING, China – The Winter Olympics are picking up speed as the women’s 1000m speed skating event is set to take place on Thursday. By the look of things, it is coming down to a two-country race for gold between Japan and Netherlands.

Miho Takagi

Jutta Leerdam

Leerdam is one of the best up-and-coming speed skaters in the sport. At just 23 years old, she already has eight total gold medals to her name. Of those eight gold medals, four of them have come in the 1000m event and all have come in 2020 or after.

As for her personal best in the 1000m event, she put up a 1:11.84 in 2020 which is currently a Dutch record.

One major career achievement that Takagi has on Leerdam, however, is that this will be Leerdam’s first-ever Olympic games in which she will face tons of pressure.
