Denmark pulled the upset against the Czech Republic in the preliminary round, winning their first-ever Olympic ice hockey game.

BEIJING – The Men’s Ice Hockey event continues to its second round and sportsbooks are expecting the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) to make easy work with Denmark.

However, Denmark was the underdog in the preliminary round against the Czech Republic and was able to pull the upset. Their long odds at Olympic betting sites may turn a big profit yet again.

Winter Olympics Men Odds

Russian Olympic Committee -600

Denmark +425

Denmark Making History

Denmark finished with a 2-1 victory against the Czech Republic while being 2-goal underdogs. This was the first time Denmark competed in the Ice Hockey event at the Olympic games in the nation’s history.

"This is a huge moment for Danish hockey. We're not usually at the Olympics," said Heinz Ehlers, Denmark head coach. "We're so happy and proud right now."

The star of the matchup was Sebastian Dahm, goalie of Denmark. Dahm, who plays for the Austrian Hockey League finished with 39 saves in the game.

Former NHL player Frans Nielsen also had a big game, scoring one of the goals for Denmark. This game showed that the underdog Denmark has plenty of talent on their roster.

The ROC only scored one goal in their win against Switzerland where they held their opponents scoreless.

Their strong defense has led them in the past, however, as Russia is the reigning Olympic gold medal team. Russia is also favored heavily with -600 odds to win Group B.

Denmark is not likely to score multiple goals against the ROC so they need to rely heavily on Dahm keeping Russia at bay.

Sportsbooks Like Russia

The interesting thing about this matchup is that sportsbooks hosting Olympic ice hockey odds truly view Denmark as underdogs, giving shorter odds for the game to end in a tie than for Denmark to outright win.

3-Way Moneyline - Regulation Time

Russian Olympic Committee – REG -385

Tie – REG +475

Denmark – REG +775

For those confident in Denmark, taking them on the three-way moneyline is the more profitable option. In addition, the tie would also payout well and can be a beneficial choice for those who simply do not wish to take Russia due to how short the odds are.

BEIJING – The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games are still set to take place despite the outbreak of COVID-19 that has affected the world.

Earlier, Switzerland’s Olympic team voiced concern over the event, requesting things to be delayed. This prompted Olympic betting sites to host odds for whether to event will be canceled or not.

Odds On 2022 Olympics Cancellation

No -10000

Yes +1600

Odds at popular sportsbooks show that betting fans expect the Olympics to happen, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed the notion in a recent statement.

Addressing the Switzerland team directly, the IOC ensured that the Olympic games will take place and begin as originally planned with no delays.

"The issue of postponement is no longer relevant to all of us," said Ralph Stöckli, Swiss team in a statement translated to English. “We can now concentrate on our task: creating the best possible conditions for the Swiss delegation during the four weeks between us and the opening ceremony."

The IOC originally postponed the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games by one year during the initial COVID-19 outbreak. This set the schedule back for the Winter Games as well.

Sportsbooks are also hosting Olympic betting odds for whether or not the games will be postponed as well.

Odds On Beijing Olympics Being Postponed

No -2500

Yes +800

The Winter Games are set to begin on February 4, 2022, which is less than a month away. When the Summer Games were postponed, the announcement came four months before the start date.

With it being so close to the Winter Games, it is unlikely that things are postponed beforehand as reflected by the odds.

The Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will see the world’s top winter athletes compete for medals and glory. It does not seem like anything will stop this event from taking place.

TOKYO – Fan Zhendong’s strong showing in the last few years has him being the runaway favorite at online sportsbooks to win the gold medal for Men’s Table Tennis at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.

Zhendong is currently ranked No. 1 in the world, a position he has held on to since 2018.

This will be the first time Zhendong competed in the Olympics.

Zhendong’s fellow Team China teammate Ma Long won the gold during the 2016 Rio Olympics. Long has the second shortest Olympic betting odds to win the gold at online sportsbooks.

Betting Fans Pick Fan Zhendong

Tokyo 2021 - Men's Individual

Fan Zhendong (CHN) -125

Hugo Calderano (BRA) +4000

Jang Woo-Jin (KOR) +5000

Zhendong being favored is no surprise. The 24-year-old table tennis champion just recently won the ITTF World Tour in Austria, China, and Germany. He also holds wins at the 2019 Asian Cup Table Tennis Tournament and the able Tennis World Cup (Men's Singles).

He has been held on the number one World Ranking with his shake attack playing style and has defeated multiple World Champions along the way, including beating Olympic gold medalist Ma Long at the 2020 ITTF Men’s World Cup Dusseldorf.

Ma Long did get the better of Zhendong a few days later at with a 4-1 win at the 2020 ITTF Finals, but Fan remains the favorite to win the gold.

The Olympics will be a new experience for Zhendong but he is no stranger to high-level competition. China is poised to continue its long dominance of table tennis at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games with Fan Zhendong leading the way.

Gasol who is nursing an injured foot would need to get fully healthy before he is able to play any kind of basketball in the future. Gasol made it clear to Shelburne on ESPN Radio that he was really focused on his rehab, however, and that getting healthy is taking his full priority.

“I’m in rehab right now, just focusing solely on and prioritizing getting my foot healed so I can get back out there and try to play again,” said Gasol.

He continued to speak on being waived by the Portland Trailblazers, expressing that the decision was mutual.

“We just agreed that it was better for me just to focus on the rehab and not have to be under a team kind of a schedule,” Gasol continued. “Just focusing solely and prioritizing my health, and from then we’ll see.”

Gasol is not only a two-time NBA champion, but the 18-year veteran is also a two-time Spanish League Champion and has won medals in the last three Olympics playing for Spain. Time will tell if Gasol can rehab quick enough to represent his home country at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

TOKYO - The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan is coming sooner rather than later and USA Basketball has officially announced the 44 finalists for the US Olympic men’s team.

The list is comprised of some of the best players in the NBA, including former MVPs Lebron James, Stephan Curry, Kevin Durant, and Russel Westbrook.

Currently, the US as a whole has the best Olympic betting odds for bringing in the most gold medals. But can the country depend on their basketball team to add to that number?

Getting Back To Glory

These 44 finalists make up the largest player pool for the 12 available roster spots since they began naming finalists in 2008.

The finalists are comprised of all 12 members of the USA’s 2019 FIBA World Cup Team, seven gold medalists from the 2012 US Olympic Team, and nine gold medalists from the 2016 US Olympic Team.

The US men’s team is hoping to dominate in Tokyo after placing seventh in the FIBA world cup last summer, the lowest they have ever placed.

With players on the roster like Lebron James Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and raining finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, it is no surprise that the US are favorites to continue their streak of winning the gold medal.

The United States have won the gold medal in basketball at the last three Olympics and the U.S. as a whole is coming in as the far favorites early on for sports bettors to bet on the 2020 Olympics.

Current Odds for the country to win the most gold medals at the 2020 Olympics on Bovada are:

USA -3000

China +1100

Great Britain +4500

Japan +6600

Russia +15000

Germany +30000

Korea +35000

France +75000

Italy +75000

Spain +100000

As the Olympics get closer there are sure to be more odds surrounding the men’s basketball event specifically for sports bettors to wager on. The Games of XXXII Olympiad will run from July 21, to August 9 with the men’s basketball event running from July 26 to August 8.

The official 12-member roster will be announced later in the year ahead of the 2020 Olympics.
