Caroline Marks of the United States is the best bet to knock off Fierro in her familiar Teahupo’o waves with +600 odds.

TAHITI – The betting favorite for the Women’s Surfing gold medal will compete in familiar territory, her hometown of Teahupo’o on the French Polynesian island of Tahiti. Known as the “Queen of Teahupo’o”, Vahine Fierro has +275 Olympic betting odds to claim gold for France.

Women’s Gold Medal Winner

Sanoa Dempfle-Olin (CAN) +50000

Yang Siqi (CHN) +50000

Fierro has a big advantage over the competition with familiarity of the dangerous and massive waves produced at Teahupo’o. She proved it at the SHISEIDO Tahiti Pro surf competition, taking home first place and finishing as the only surfer with at least two excellent heats (score of at least 16.00).

Simmers (+500), Marks (+600), Best Bets To Knock Off Fierro

Caitlin Simmers of the United States has the next-shortest Olympic surfing betting (+500) as the No. 1 ranked surfer on the Women’s Championship Tour. However, she finished ninth at the Tahiti Pro despite having three wins on the Women’s Championship Tour this season.

Caroline Marks is the second-ranked surfer on the Women’s Championship Tour and has the better track record in Teahupo’o. Her +600 Summer Olympics betting odds are valuable considering she is the 2023 Tahiti Pro champion and finished third in this year’s event.

TAHITI – Gabriel Medina earned his spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics with a dominant win at the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games. Now, he’s the Olympic betting odds favorites to win the gold medal with +200 odds.

Olympic surfers will compete in Teahupo’o, located on the French territory island of Tahiti. It’s the farthest medal competition outside of the host city in Olympic history, and it’s nickname of “End of the Road” references the danger of the reef break waves.

Florence (+350), Colapinto (+1000) Top Bets For Surfing Gold

Brazilians make up three of the top 10 spots to best the dangerous waves, but it’s the two Americans who stand out on the Olympic surfing betting odds board. John John Florence is the No. 1 ranked surfer according to World Surf League (WSL) and has +350 odds to win the Olympic Surfing gold medal.

The 31-year-old has responded strongly from two ACL tears prior to a ninth-place finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Florence is the WSL points leader with a win, three second place finishes, and two fifth place finishes this season.

His fellow countryman Griffin Colapinto’s Summer Olympics betting odds at +1000 are undervalued. Colapinto is the No. 2 ranked surfer in the World Surf League standings thanks to a win, three top five finishes and three more top 10 finishes.

Skateboarding, Surfing, Climbing and Karate are the new Olympic sports.

Baseball and Softball also make a return to the games after nearly 15 years.

TOKYO – The Olympic Games haven’t had the same level of pull as in years past, at least that’s what the numbers say. The IOC is hoping that the addition of a handful of new events will help bring viewership back up to where it used to be.

The Olympics have been on a decline in viewership and in 2016, they capped off the lowest-rated and least-watched Olympics in years.

The opening ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics had just 29.3 million views, down from 40.7 million in 2021 and 34.9 million in 2008.

There’s no definitive reason as to why the viewership has gone down and it’s likely a compilation of a multitude of reasons, but the committee is hoping to combat this problem by adding five new sports that are also available for Olympic betting fans to take advantage of.

The Olympic Solution?

The 2021 Olympics will see skateboarding, surfing, climbing and karate make their Olympic debuts while baseball and softball (grouped as one event) make a reappearance after 13 years.

Those interested in taking part in the Olympic betting odds will now have a new slew of sports to watch and bet on.

Bovada is offering odds on most of the new events, favoring Japan in baseball, the USA in softball, the USA in men’s Olympic skateboarding, Brazil in women’s skateboarding, the USA and Brazil in surfing, with a mixed result in karate among the different weight classes.

Nobody knows for sure whether the addition of the new sports will have any sort of positive impact, but it’s a good sign that something new is being attempted as it’s fair to say the Olympic Games were getting a little stale in certain areas.

Sky Brown is a professional skateboarder, surfer, and dancer.

Brown will be only 12 years old by the time the Sumer Olympics happens.

Brown could be one of the youngest Olympians in history.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Sky Brown, who is currently 11 years old, could potentially qualify for the park skateboarding event at Tokyo 2020.

By the time the Summer Olympics happen, Brown will be 12 years old. Although she is young, she has won many top-level skateboarding competitions. Thanks to that, she is on the way to represent Great Britain in the park skateboarding at the Summer Olympics.

A Young Champion

The Olympics would not be Brown’s first competition. Despite her age, Brown has won many different competitions. She recently won gold at the United Kingdom National Skateboarding Championship. She has also won bronze during the Park World Skateboarding Championship in Brazil.

Thanks to her accomplishments, it is almost guaranteed that she will represent Great Britain in the park competitions at Tokyo 2020. This will likely make her the youngest Olympian at the Summer Olympics.

"I don't feel any nerves. It will be really cool to be the youngest Olympian. People might think you're too young or that you can't do it, but I want to show that it's not about your size or age. I want to be in the Olympics to inspire other girls to show them you can do anything. I'm excited for Tokyo,” said Brown.

Brown is not just good at skateboarding. She is also an accomplished surfer as well. Tokyo 2020 will also have surfing as a competition. However, Brown decided to focus on skateboarding for the Summer Olympics.

"I like them both the same, they're super similar," said Brown. "But it's like if you go and get ramen and ice cream – if you eat too much ramen you want to go and get ice cream. I used to be better at surfing, but I've been skating a lot lately, and I've got way better from doing contests. It's made me want to go harder."

Brown appearing at the Olympics is almost guaranteed. Tokyo 2020 will feature the inaugural skateboarding competition and Brown is planning to take the competition by storm. Olympic odds on her will likely appear as soon as it is confirmed that Brown is going. The Women’s Park competition will happen on August 5, 2020.

OAHU, Hawaii – John John Florence is hoping to make it to the 2020 Olympics, despite the fact he tore his ACL.

Qualifiers Are Passing By

One of the biggest qualifiers for the 2020 Olympics is the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour. During this time, there will be 10 men and women who will end up qualifying for the Tokyo Games. For each gender, there can be only two representatives per country. That means that only two US men will make it to the Olympics.

If the Championship Tour were to end today, Florence would qualify for the Olympics. Despite being out, Florence is currently ranked third in the overall standings. But the problem is that there is another US representative in front of him. He is currently behind Kolohe Andino. At this point, it seems like Andino will more than likely represent team USA in Tokyo.

That means that if one more US surfer surpasses him in the rankings, Florence will miss his Tokyo opportunity. Kelly Slater is the closest US surfer to overtake Florence. Slater is currently in eighth place in the Championship Tour.

Opportunities To Qualify

There are a couple of different ways that Florence can still qualify. The first is that he remains his position as the second-highest scoring American in the WSL tour. This is unlikely as there are five more surfing contests left in the WSL Championships.

OlympicBettingOdds.com knows another way for Florence to qualify is that either only Andino qualifies this round, or no Americans qualify. This will give Florence the opportunity to qualify via the 2020 ISA World Surfing Games.

Florence underwent reconstruction surgery for his torn ACL. He is currently undergoing rehab in hopes to make it to the 2020 Olympics. He wants to recover in time just in case he needs to go to the ISA World Surfing Games to qualify. Florence does not want to miss the opportunity to represent Team USA at the 2020 Olympics.

“It's the Olympics, the top of sporting, and being a part of it would be awesome. I think it would be so cool to have a Hawaiian on the team," said Florence. "Since it's the first year in the Olympics for surfing, I imagine there is going to be a lot of conversation... To be part of the first one and growing our sport in the Olympics would be cool,” said Florence.

More than 11,000 athletes are expected to compete in the Olympic Games.

Over 206 Nations will be playing for the gold.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- It’s been 56 years since Tokyo has hosted the Olympics and in 2020, they will introduce five new events to the Games. These events include karate, sport climbing, surfing, and skateboarding.

Baseball and softball will also be a part of Tokyo 2020 but this will not be their first Olympic debut. Softball and baseball have been in and out of the Olympic Games since the nineties. The last time these sports were part of the Olympics was in 2008.

A Closer Look At The Five New Events

Fittingly, karate will make its Olympic debut in the country where it all began. Both men and women will be competing in two different types of karate. Kata also is known as sparring will be centered around the athlete’s technique when it comes time for judges to score. Women will spar for two minutes while men will spar for three. The fighter with the most points will win in the sparring match. A draw would go to the person that scored a point first.

The second form of karate that will be done is called Kumite. Kumite is all about forms. The fighting is based on judging your virtually based opponent's moves and responding with the correct form. At the end of the match, judges raise flags of the color of the fighter they believe is the winner.

Sport climbing will be an event with both male and female competitors. There will be three separate parts to this event, bouldering, lead, and speed climbing. Bouldering requires athletes to try multiple routes on a 4-meter wall. Speed climbing is done on a 15-meter wall with a course in place. Two climbers will compete with each other to see who can climb the wall the fastest.

Lead climbing is when the athlete attempts to climb a 15-meter wall in 6 minutes using a rope along the way. Whichever athlete makes it to the top or makes it the highest within the time span is the winner. Each competitor will have to take part in all three events where the scores will be combined to place for medals.

Skateboarding will involve both street and park style skateboarding for male and female competitors. Street skateboarding will take place on a course styled like a street that will help athletes reveal their skillset. Park skateboarding will be done on a hollowed-out skatepark style course.

Surfing will be making waves at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. The event will be comprised of 20 men and 20 women who will take part in various shortboard events. Shortboards are surfboards that are 6 feet in length. If this new sport is well received by viewers, longboards could be part of the future Olympic Games.

OlympicBettingOdds.com recalls that baseball and softball have had a love/hate relationship with the Olympics. After 12 years, they will both finally reenter the Games. Baseball will have a total of 16 games played by men and softball will have a total of 17 games played by women. All of this Olympic summer fun begins in July 2020 in Tokyo.
