FanDuel is offering -750 betting odds for the USA to win.

TOKYO – Men’s Basketball is a competition that the United States is expected to dominate in every Olympics.

Some sportsbooks believe it’s a foregone conclusion that the USA will win their fourth consecutive Gold Medal while others believe it’s more of an open race.

Which Book Offers The Best Odds

It’s not too often that lines differ by this wide of a margin between sportsbooks, especially when it’s Olympic betting odds but that is the case for the Men’s Basketball competition.

Team USA Basketball Odds

Bovada -1000

FanDuel -750

MyBookie -200

Obviously, those looking to bet on Olympic basketball should head over to MyBookie as they are offering by far the most generous betting odds of any site. On the other side of things, Bovada has the shortest odds listed.

It’s unconfirmed whether this is a mistake by MyBookie or not, but it’s definitely interesting to see one book be such an outlier compared to the others.

Is There A Reason For MyBookie’s Line?

There’s not much debate on which team has the most talented roster and it’s almost unanimously the United States.

The Team USA basketball roster is headlined by players such as Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal and is coached by Gregg Popovich.

There is not another country in the world that can match the level of talent, but international teams play a different brand of basketball that could supposedly give issues to the U.S., however it still seems unlikely.

This shouldn’t be a line that bettors overthink and it should be something to take advantage of before the line moves.

Swimmer Caeleb Dressel is on his way to becoming the next Michael Phelps in the sport.

Dressel will be competing in seven competitions in the 2021 Summer Olympics, representing the United States for swimming.

Sportsbooks have not yet put odds out on the athlete but he has been crushing the trials, making him a lock to possibly win seven medals at the Tokyo 2021 games.

TOKYO – Swimmer Caeleb Dressel is a two-time Olympic gold medalist that now has seven chances to take home the gold in the 2021 Summer Olympics for swimming.

Dressel by all accounts would be considered a lock to win the gold in a number of the competitions he will be participating in, despite sportsbooks not having odds out on the athlete yet.

However, the 24-year-old has been taking the first-place spot during the Olympic trials, even tying the men’s 50- meter freestyle record of 21.04 which he set himself in 2019 during the World Championships in South Korea. Sportsbooks are sure to have quite a few Olympic betting odds set on the athlete who could possibly be the next Michael Phelps.

Dressel doesn’t think, he just swims, and it’s that lack of thinking that has put him on everyone’s radar for the 2021 Olympic games.

“There’s only so much you can think about a race that lasts 21 seconds,” said Dressel. “I knew that I had a chance to be 21-low – a good race is what I thought I saw on the board. So, I’m really happy with that, I thought I held stroke together pretty well, I got a little choppy in the middle of the pool, but the beginning and end were as good as they could have been.”

Dressel For Best Swimming Vessel?

Olympic sportsbooks will be taking a look at the data and statistics as they always do before posting betting lines and see that Dressel is a sure favorite for all of his events in the Tokyo 2021 games.

The athlete has no goal in mind in terms of medaling out, he just enjoys swimming and does not pressure himself to beat the clock which is probably why he’s at the top of his game. He gets to lose himself in the water and that’s what he loves to do most.

“These meets are quite miserable when you’re not swimming, to be honest,” said Dressel. “You’re left alone with your own thoughts.”

Dressel took home seven gold medals in the 2017 Worlds Championship and plenty of people have him on their list for taking home a medal in each of his seven competitions.

Is Dressel A Lock?

When it comes to strokes, Billy Squier has nothing on Dressel who has it down to a science that seems to work. His mind is as clear as the water when he’s in it and his focus is just to do his best rather than set any straight goals for himself.

Betting on Olympic swimming should be an easy choice with Dressel in it to win it as a lock.

The best kind of athlete is one that isn’t in his own head when competing, and Dressel is one of those athletes. The 2021 Summer Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 23.

However, many changes will be implemented to the Games this year as the officials focus on safety over presentation.

TOKYO – The 2021 Olympic Games are happening, despite the state of the world over the last year. After their initial suspension in 2020, the Olympic Games are set to begin from Tokyo on July 23.

Despite the host nation of Japan dealing with a fourth wave of COVID-91 infections, International Olympic Committee members are staying steadfast in their mission of putting on the Olympic Games.

In what is usually a celebration of life and athletics, this year’s Olympics will likely look very different form years past.

For one, there will be no international fan presence at the Games this year. The IOC banned all foreign visitors and travelling fans from attending the games.

A final decision will be made later this month as to whether or not local fans will be allowed within the arena.

This means that any Olympic betting action will be celebrated only at home, as the cheers from the arena will be absent this time around.

Will the lack of fans affect performance? Not likely, but some smaller nations will not have the backing of their own fans present at their events.

This niche could be the reason that the USA is such heavy Olympic betting favorites to dominant the medal count this time around.

Tokyo 2021 - Most Gold Medals

USA -450

China +335

Japan +2000

South Korea +30000

Hungary +75000

Italy +75000

With all of the worry over the pandemic, no significant countries have withdrawn from the Olympics.

The only country to officially withdraw from the games is North Korea. Some expected that when North Korea dropped out of the Games back in April other countries would follow suit, but none have.

In terms of the athletes themselves, they will have to undergo a strict regimen of testing during their stay at Olympic Village.

Instead of what is usually a legendary international melting pot of social activities, athletes are being encouraged to avoid contact with each other whenever possible.

The athletes will live in bio-secure bubbles and will need to pass two COVID tests before arriving at the Games. While in Tokyo, the athletes will not be able to use public transport, eat in restaurants, or stay to enjoy the Games after their event.

Athletes are required to leave no more than two days after their scheduled event.

World class athletes who have trained night and day, some for their entire lives, for this very moment will now be ushered in and out of the Games like sho

TOKYO, JAPAN - With the outbreak of the contagious coronavirus, both the United States and Japan have been taking precautionary measures in order to keep it contained. Both countries have been holding restrictions for Olympic players and officials regarding travel and training.

The effect it will have for certain athletes Olympic betting odds may not be seen until the games start. However, many are still finding ways to get in the best shape possible before the biggest events of their lives.

Postponed/Canceled Events

Many different sporting events have been either postponed, canceled or the location has been changed. All events that were held in China that are not being postponed or canceled have been relocated to either Australia or Serbia. Four sports that were moved there are:

Women’s Soccer (Australia)

Women’s Basketball (Serbia)

Badminton (Canceled)

Boxing (Canceled)

The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) has canceled 3 events that were to be held in Hainan Island, China, Singapore, and Thailand and has no plans of rescheduling any of them for the remainder of 2020.

The World Indoor Athletics Championship will, however, postpone their event by a whole year and will be scheduled for March of 2021. They released a statement on the change of plans.

“We know that China is doing all it can to contain the new Coronavirus and we support them in all their efforts but it is necessary to provide our athletes, Member Federations and partners with a clear way forward in what is a complex and fast-moving set of circumstances.”

United States Safety

The main concern for the U.S. is the international traveling by the players, coaches and general staff as well as the travel from Asian athletes to the United States for pre-Olympic events.

The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has been working hand in hand with Homeland Security in order to process incoming athletes from Asia for skiing and speed skating events held in Utah.

Colton Brown, a member of the United States Judo team has spoken out about the cancelation of some events. “I remember being told I should take extreme caution—some people warned me against even traveling to Brazil for the Olympics—but everything turned out to be fine.”

Brown continued, “I feel terrible for the Chinese athletes who currently aren’t able to travel to some of the Olympic qualifying events—but I seriously think that we are at a point with international medicine that this won't last too long and everything will be resolved before the Olympics.”

Japan Safety

Yuriko Koike, the governor of Tokyo, said, “We must firmly tackle the new coronavirus to contain it—or we are going to regret it. I will do the utmost to contain this new problem as we cooperate closely with all of you.” Koike also advised the citizens of Tokyo to take proper sanitary measures to avoid contamination.

The Olympic committee in Tokyo added to Koike’s concerns, “Countermeasures against infectious diseases constitute an important part of our plans to host a safe and secure (Olympic) games.”

Travel And Training Disruptions

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has voiced their concerns about the virus. They are pushing for non-U.S. citizens who were in China within 14 days of their travel plans to not be permitted into the United States.

UFC fighter, Weili Zhang was originally training in Beijing but moved it back to the U.S. in Las Vegas. Chinese Sports authorities have canceled training for 10 sports. Sports that training has not been canceled has been moved to isolated areas.

The head official in charge of competitions from the General Administration of Sports, Liu Guoyong said, “The epidemic has indeed presented severe challenges as we prepare for Tokyo…but as of now, preparations for all teams are going smoothly and no suspected case has occurred.”

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Brooke Raboutou is going to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo for the climbing event.

Qualifying In Japan

The first qualifiers for the Olympic climbing event were at the IFSC Climbing World Championships in Hachioji, Japan. Hachioji is less than an hour away from where the 2020 Summer Olympics will be held. There, Raboutou qualified for the Olympic climbing event.

Climbing has three different disciplines. Speed climbing is a race between two climbers that scale a 15-meter wall. Bouldering is when climbers scale as many fixed routes as they can within four minutes. Lead climbing is when climbers climb as high as they can on a 15-meter wall within six minutes. There are no re-climbs in lead climbing.

Normally, a climber would choose one or two different disciplines to focus on. To be an Olympic climber, they need to do all three. This is known as combined climbing. Because of this, the IFSC Climbing World Championships was combined climbing.

During the World Championships, Raboutou placed sixth in the speed round. She then ended in tenth place for the lead and bouldering rounds. Her final standing was ninth place. Her ninth-place finish allows her to go to Tokyo in 2020.

By our count here at OlympicBettingOdds.com this officially makes Raboutou the seventh member of Team USA. The others are three open water swimmers, two modern pentathletes, and a triathlete. Tokyo 2020 will only have 20 athletes per gender with a max of two per country in climbing. This means that team USA can potentially send up to three more climbers to Tokyo. There are seven more opportunities for USA climbers to qualify for the climbing event and join Raboutou.

Clara Schroth Lomady, a gymnast from the 40s and 50s has six U.S. all-around titles and is now tied with Biles.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In the Rio 2016 Olympics, gymnast Simone Biles proved to herself and the world that she was a true Olympic champion, taking home four gold medals and one bronze. In just one Olympic showing she became the female American gymnast with the most medals. Now the 22-year-old is back to competing in order to get to Tokyo 2020 and she’s already made history.

Biles became the first female gymnast in the history of the sport to complete a triple twisting double somersault during her floor routine. Not only that, but she was also the first to do a perfect double-twisting double somersault for her balance beam performance. The U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, Missouri was a night of historical firsts, all made by Biles.

At such a young age, Biles continues to make a name for herself. She is now the first woman to be the proud holder of six U.S. all-around titles in almost 70 years.

"You'll go your whole entire career and everybody will tell you you're great. But the minute you say you're good, people are like, 'Oh my gosh, you're so cocky! Cancel her,' or this or that," said Biles. "There should be times where we can celebrate whenever we do a good routine. Or if you've been on a winning streak for a year. Or so forth. I think it's something you should have pride in. Not be cocky about it, but have pride in it."

The 2020 Olympics

While there was uncertainty as to whether or not Biles would be returning to competing in gymnastics, she has decided to continue her advancement in the sport. The coach she’s had since she was seven years old, Aimee Boorman, moved to Florida to train there after the 2016 Olympics. Biles did not follow her.

Instead, after taking a year off from competition, Biles hired two new coaches. Cecile and Laurent Landi, of Texas, are now part of Biles’ team. They helped gymnast Madison Kocian receive a silver medal in the Rio Olympics for the uneven bars routine. Her new coaches are more about pushing her to go further rather than have routines that are perfect but with moves that are less difficult.

Biles will be competing in an October qualifier for a spot in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. She has said that the reason she’s able to do so well is that she is no longer out to prove herself. She is competing simply for the love of the sport. OlympicBettingOdds.com feels that should she make those historical moves in her performances once again at the qualifiers, they will be named after her.

A list of over 100 players has already made its way to the desk of Team USA for consideration.

The official roster for Team USA at the 2020 Olympics will have 28 players.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – USA Baseball has started looking at potential players for Team USA in the 2020 Olympics. The last time baseball made an appearance in the Olympics was in 2008. With 12 years between events, it is unlikely that any former members will be on the 2020 team making the entire squad a sea of new faces.

A formal ranking of possible athletes will be made through player evaluations and recommendations by the scouting staff. Teams will be contacted in August by USA Baseball seeking permission to use their players for the 2020 Olympics. An official public announcement of the 28-man lineup for Tokyo 2020 will be done by October.

The Premier12 Tournament will be the beginning of qualifiers to make it to the Olympics. The tournament is made up of twelve different teams that span the globe. Team USA will play in Mexico on November 2nd.

Should Team USA fail in the tournament, they will have 2 more chances to make it to the Olympics. After the Premier12 Tournament, there is an Americas Qualifier and then the third tournament in Taiwan. The qualifying rounds for Tokyo 2020 baseball are literally playing by the 3 strikes and you’re out rule.

With qualifiers, there are no guarantees that Team USA will be competing in the Olympics. They need to be able to advance in any one of the 3 tournaments they’re allowed. In 2004, they were unable to make the cut.

“We’ve had people say, ‘When do you go to Tokyo?’ and we’re quick to remind people we’re not in Tokyo yet. We have to qualify,” said Paul Seller, CEO of USA Baseball. “It’s going to be really, really difficult. Seven of the top 12 teams in the world are from our region. FIFA has the pools of death. We have the continent of death.”

Team USA

The last Team USA was comprised of both seasoned players and prospective ones that had not yet made their mark in the MLB. This new team will have the same makeup, taking the top players from wherever the scouts find them. In general, it’s good practice to have the varying age range for good chemistry; the older players can teach the newer players and the newer players boost the competitive side of the veterans.

“It’s about the best player in the moment, and that could be a lot of different guys,” said Sellers. “Obviously the minor league player is where the bulk of our team will come from, but if there is a player like a former pro pitching in Japan, that might be somebody who is attractive based on their familiarity of the landscape and where we might be going.”

OlympicBettingOdds.com thinks the United States needs to look long and hard for the right players and coaches to make it to Tokyo 2020. This could very well be their last chance for an Olympic medal for some time. The 2024 Olympics will not be featuring baseball as an event. Depending on the ratings in 2020, that could either help or hurt an appearance of baseball for the 2028 Olympics.

The winners for baseball in the 2008 Beijing Olympics were South Korea who took home the Gold, Cuba that brought back the Silver and the United States bringing back the Bronze medal. Practice for the qualifiers will begin in October. Team Japan already has a spot at the Olympics because they are the host country.

Haley Anderson and Ashley Twichell are the first members of Team USA for Tokyo 2020.

First time US women have automatically qualified for open water swimming at the Olympics.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Haley Anderson and Ashley Twichell have both qualified for open water swimming in Tokyo 2020.

The FINA World Aquatics Championships are well underway. During these aquatic events, athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. No woman from the US has ever automatically qualified for the 10k open water event at the Olympics. OlympicBettingOdds.com thinks that has now changed.

Two Successful Swims

Anderson won Team USA its first women’s 10k worlds medal. She did so by getting second place at the FINA world championships. Anderson finished the 10k with a time of 1:54:48:10. She was only 00:00:90 behind Xin Xin of China. With the silver medal in hand, Anderson is now heading to Tokyo 2020.

Anderson is not the only one heading to Tokyo. The top 10 finishers are all automatically going to the Olympics. That means Ashley Twichell also qualifies. Twichell finished with a time of 1:54:505:50. That puts Twichell 00:03:30 behind Xin Xin. Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil and Australia’s Kareena Lee ended with the same time as Twichell. In a three-way tie for fifth, Twichell will also represent Team USA in Tokyo.

This will not be the first time that Anderson will be at the Olympics. She was present in London 2012 and Rio 2016. In London, Anderson won the silver medal for the 10k marathon. She, unfortunately, did not win any medals in Rio. As for Twichell, this will be the first time she qualifies for the Olympic Games.

Due to these qualifiers, Twichell and Anderson are both the first members of Team USA for Tokyo 2020. As the FINA World Championships continue, more US athletes will join them at the Olympics.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Florida State University student Katrina Young has qualified for the Olympics for the second time.

She was also in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Her partner for Tokyo 2020 will be Murphy Bromberg. This will be the first time that Bromberg will make it to the Olympics.

How Did They Qualify?

Qualifications happened at the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. Before the final dive for Team USA, the pair was in fourth place behind team Canada. They needed to overtake the Canadian pair to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

In their final dive, the US pair performed a back 2 ½ with 1 ½ twists. This gave team USA a score of 69.12 points. That meant their final score was 304.86 points. Murphy was not confident that the dive was enough. Next up was the Canadian pair.

For Team Canada’s final dive, they performed an inward 3 ½ tuck to score 62.40 points. That left team Canada with a score of 304.05. Team USA overtook team Canada by .81 points and placed third in the FINA World Championships. This means that the US pair won bronze and most of all, qualified for the 2020 Olympics.

OlympicBettingOdds.com knows Young and Bromberg will not be the only Americans with a shot to qualify for Tokyo 2020. The FINA World Championships last until July 24. Ben Bramley and Steele Johnson will compete in the men’s synchronized 10-meter. Alison Gibson and Krysta Palmer will compete in the women’s synchronized 3-meter. They are hoping to compete in the 2020 Olympics along with Young and Bromberg.
