The United States are -900 on the moneyline and have -105 odds to cover 12.5 points.
France comes back as a +600 odds betting underdog.
The total is set at 175.5 points, but indications point towards a comfortable Under.

TOKYO – The United States was able to overcome their early struggles and reach the gold medal match where they’ll compete against France. Sportsbooks peg the U.S. as sizable favorites in the matchup that would bring the team their 16th gold medal in the 19 Olympics they’ve participated in.

The Spread: Will USA Cover?

To many, the spreads set for the United States have been in an interesting spot. Against Iran, the USA was favored by 40.5 points and covered comfortably with a 54-point win. Since then, the Olympic odds have seen a spread of 11-14 points in the last couple of games, all of which the United States have covered.

Nelly Korda Favored, Would Give USA Both Gold Medals

The Olympic betting odds favor the United Sates’ Nelly Korda to win the gold medal. After Xander Schauffele emerged victorious on the men’s side, this would give the United States both winners for individual stroke play.

Korda is the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world who holds the lowest scoring average on the LPGA Tour and thus finds herself as the betting favorite.

While Korda is very talented and could surely win the gold, there may be better options that bring more value to the table.

Danielle Kang (+1400)

Schauffele was able to see success largely in part to his putting. Of all the strokes gained measurements, his best was Strokes Gained: Putting, ranking fifth in the field. Unfortunately, the LPGA stats aren’t as in-depth as on the men’s side, but Danielle Kang is clearly amongst the best putters in the field.

Kang leads the LPGA in putting average with just 28.71 putts per round and ranks seventh in putts per GIR with 1.746.

There were nine golfers who shot -15 or better in the men’s tournament, seven of which placed inside the top 30 in the field for SG: Putting and four were inside the top 10 for the weekend.

Those betting on Olympic golf should be looking for the best putters, and Kang is surely right in that conversation.

Lydia Ko (+1600)

Kang isn’t the only one who excels with the putter. For example, Lydia Ko ranks third on the LPGA tour in both putting average (28.76) and putts per GIR (1.724).

Ko’s biggest weakness is driving the ball as she has only found 62.7% of fairways (No. 151) and has an average drive distance of 257.37 (No. 84), but luckily driving didn’t play too much of a part for the men and that’s unlikely to change too much for the women.

Betting on golf is difficult and so is betting on the Olympics so when combined can make sure an incredibly challenging task. However, having seen how the course plays out just a couple of days beforehand is a huge advantage.

For some reason, it doesn’t seem as if the sportsbooks are as up-to-date with the course as Kang and Ko should likely have shorter odds.

TOKYO – Two of the final women’s weightlifting events will take place over the weekend with gold medals being awarded in the 76kg and 87kg weight classes. Neisi Dajomes and Wang Zhouyu will be heavy favorites when entering their events.

Neisi Dajomes has been on a bit of a tear over the past couple of years. She completely dominated the Junior World Championships and has done the same in the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.

Women’s 87kg Weightlifting: Wang Zhouyu A Lock?

In Olympic sports betting there is no such thing as a lock, otherwise betting odds wouldn’t be available. With that said, Wang Zhouyu may be the closest thing imaginable in terms of winning the 87kg weightlifting gold medal.

Not only is Zhouyu completely dominant in her events, but her biggest threats haven’t proved to be much of a threat at all. As said before, locks do not exist, but she is close, giving bettors a 7.14% return on their assumed lock.

TOKYO – Saturday kicks off the women’s featherweight semifinals as well as the women’s middleweight quarterfinals for Olympic boxing. Before the field gets narrowed down too much, the betting odds are still long enough to make a play on who may be awarded with the gold medal.

Irma Testa and Nesthy Petecio are considered the two top athletes remaining in the women’s featherweight field. The Olympic betting odds label the two as big favorites over the remainder of the field, however, they will face one another in the semifinals.

TOKYO – There are likely many people who watch the Olympics that don’t happen to catch any of the badminton events. However, for betting purposes, it can be fruitful and worth the watch.

The mixed doubles and men’s doubles are the first of the badminton events to crown winners.

Ryan Murphy has +250 odds as the third choice in the 100m backstroke despite being the world record holder.
Evgeny Rylov, the +150 favorite, won the bronze medal in 2016 for the 200m backstroke but did not compete in the 100m.
Kliment Kolesnikov (+175) and Xu Jiayu (+350) are both worthy competitors as well.

TOKYO – The 100m backstroke is lining up to be one of the most exciting and closely contested events in the 2021 Olympics. This event will have world record holders, former gold medalists, rising stars and more as sportsbooks are unable to separate any athlete from the rest of the field.

The Case To Be Made For Each Swimmer

The event from this field is so loaded that there truly is a case to be made for multiple athletes, even some who don’t carry odds as short as the favorites. Betting on Olympic swimming could be more profitable this year than in year’s past as there’s no true top athlete.

Ryan Murphy (+250)

Murphy is a three-time Olympic gold medalist with all three coming from the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Further, he is the world record holder in the 100m backstroke with a time of 51.85 seconds.

Kliment Kolesnikov (+175)

Kolesnikov is just 21 years old and has 23 gold medals to his name. Although they aren’t all Olympic gold medals, it’s no cakewalk to win world championships.

He also has been recorded with a 52.13 second time in the 100m. Kolesnikov could very well be the future, but he also may succeed sooner rather than later.

Larkin competed in both the 100m and 200m backstroke in 2016, missing the podium in the 100m and winning silver in the 200m. He has a personal best time of 52.11 seconds, meaning thus far he’s shown the ability to put up a faster time than guys like Kolesnikov.
