France comes back as a +600 odds betting underdog.

The total is set at 175.5 points, but indications point towards a comfortable Under.

TOKYO – The United States was able to overcome their early struggles and reach the gold medal match where they’ll compete against France. Sportsbooks peg the U.S. as sizable favorites in the matchup that would bring the team their 16th gold medal in the 19 Olympics they’ve participated in.

The Spread: Will USA Cover?

To many, the spreads set for the United States have been in an interesting spot. Against Iran, the USA was favored by 40.5 points and covered comfortably with a 54-point win. Since then, the Olympic odds have seen a spread of 11-14 points in the last couple of games, all of which the United States have covered.

USA vs France Gold Medal Spread

USA -12.5 -105

France +12.5 -115

Given that the U.S. has covered four straight spreads in these Olympic Games, there’s been little to suggest that the championship game will be any different.

France isn’t a pushover of a team, headlined by NBA players like Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier, and Nicolas Batum - who got the game winning block to earn their spot in the Gold Medal Game.

Plus, this team did beat the United States in the opening round of the Olympics.

Betting The Total: Signs Point Towards The Under

The first time these two teams played one another the final score amounted to a total of 159 points - a total much lower than what the line is set at for the gold medal game.

USA vs France Total Odds

Over 175.5 -110

Under 175.5 -110

Only one of France’s games during the Olympics has gone north of this mark while three of the United States’ five games as done so. The average total of a United States game is 179.8 points while France's average is at 162.4.

Further, the Olympic basketball odds themselves are suggesting the Under is the best play. France has a team total set at 81.5 while the USA has a team total of 93.5. Added together the total is 175.

France Team Total

Over 81.5 -105

Under 81.5 -125

USA Team Total

Over 93.5 -105

Under 93.5 -125

Past game results point towards the Under and the odds themselves point towards the Under. The sportsbook is telling something about betting on Team USA basketball. Listen to it.

TOKYO – Sportsbooks have set odds for both semifinal matchups and project the United States and Slovenia to meet one another in the gold medal match.

USA vs Australia: United States Heavily Favored

The United States will take the court as 12-point favorites against Australia around midnight on the Wednesday/Thursday turnover. Team USA lost to Australia in an exhibition prior to the Olympics which could bring some extra motivation.

USA vs Australia Spread Odds

USA -12 -110

Australia +12 -110

The United States have covered each of their last three spreads and are seemingly hitting form at the right time. The Olympic betting odds have the total set in a place where it looks to be a very obtainable number for the US. With an average point differential of +34.3 per game over the last three, it’s fair to be confident in Team USA’s ability to cover this spread as well.

Australia has been no pushover this tournament, but their best might just not be enough. The team has some notable NBA players such as Patty Mills, Aron Baynes, Joe Ingles and Matisse Thybulle, but there is even more NBA-level talent on the roster.

USA vs Australia Total Odds

Over 180.5 -115

Under 180.5 -105

Those betting on Olympic basketball should note that not a single one of Australia’s games has reached this total during these Olympics while just two of the United States’ four games have done so.

Betting the under could be the best play of the entire game.

Slovenia vs France: Can Luka Lead Team To Finals

Luka Doncic has turned Slovenia from a forgotten team to a legit threat at the international level. He is a perfect 17-0 with the team and is now just one win away from competing for a gold medal.

Slovenia vs France Moneyline Odds

Slovenia -150

France +120

Doncic has been the biggest star in basketball during this Olympic run and even though France beat the United States in the opening game, Slovenia has shown little to prove they are slowing down. Sports betting sites give Slovenia a 2-5-point edge, but looking at the total raises some interesting questions.

Slovenia vs France Total Odds

Over 174.5 -110

Under 174.5 -110

Slovenia hit this mark in each of the first three games prior to the quarterfinals while France has yet to see a game reach this number in any of their four games.

Totals are often reached or missed largely in part of the pace of play.

If France is able to keep the game close and continue their slower, more methodical offense the Under will easily hit. However, if Slovenia is able to jump out to a big lead and force France to speed up the offense, the Under is less likely.

Since the spread predicts a one-possession game, France may be more likely to play their style of basketball meaning the Under is probably a better bet.

Nelly Korda Favored, Would Give USA Both Gold Medals

The Olympic betting odds favor the United Sates’ Nelly Korda to win the gold medal. After Xander Schauffele emerged victorious on the men’s side, this would give the United States both winners for individual stroke play.

Korda is the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world who holds the lowest scoring average on the LPGA Tour and thus finds herself as the betting favorite.

While Korda is very talented and could surely win the gold, there may be better options that bring more value to the table.

Danielle Kang (+1400)

Schauffele was able to see success largely in part to his putting. Of all the strokes gained measurements, his best was Strokes Gained: Putting, ranking fifth in the field. Unfortunately, the LPGA stats aren’t as in-depth as on the men’s side, but Danielle Kang is clearly amongst the best putters in the field.

Kang leads the LPGA in putting average with just 28.71 putts per round and ranks seventh in putts per GIR with 1.746.

There were nine golfers who shot -15 or better in the men’s tournament, seven of which placed inside the top 30 in the field for SG: Putting and four were inside the top 10 for the weekend.

Those betting on Olympic golf should be looking for the best putters, and Kang is surely right in that conversation.

Lydia Ko (+1600)

Kang isn’t the only one who excels with the putter. For example, Lydia Ko ranks third on the LPGA tour in both putting average (28.76) and putts per GIR (1.724).

Ko’s biggest weakness is driving the ball as she has only found 62.7% of fairways (No. 151) and has an average drive distance of 257.37 (No. 84), but luckily driving didn’t play too much of a part for the men and that’s unlikely to change too much for the women.

Betting on golf is difficult and so is betting on the Olympics so when combined can make sure an incredibly challenging task. However, having seen how the course plays out just a couple of days beforehand is a huge advantage.

For some reason, it doesn’t seem as if the sportsbooks are as up-to-date with the course as Kang and Ko should likely have shorter odds.

Wang Zhouyu has -1400 betting odds to win gold in the 87kg weight class.

TOKYO – Two of the final women’s weightlifting events will take place over the weekend with gold medals being awarded in the 76kg and 87kg weight classes. Neisi Dajomes and Wang Zhouyu will be heavy favorites when entering their events.

Women’s 76kg Weightlifting: Neisi Dajomes Favored

Neisi Dajomes has been on a bit of a tear over the past couple of years. She completely dominated the Junior World Championships and has done the same in the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.

The Ecuadorian is listed as the favorite by a solid margin in her first Olympics.

Women’s 76kg Weightlifting Odds

Neisi Dajomes -300

Iryna Dekha +550

Katherine Nye +700

Kim Su-Hyeon +1000

The Olympic betting odds favor Dajomes, but there’s a case to be made for some other competitors as well.

Iryna Dekha won the gold medal in the 2021 European Championships while Katherine Nye had much success in the 71kg weight class. If either were to win it’d be a surprise as Dajomes’ record speaks for itself, but it’s not impossible.

Women’s 87kg Weightlifting: Wang Zhouyu A Lock?

In Olympic sports betting there is no such thing as a lock, otherwise betting odds wouldn’t be available. With that said, Wang Zhouyu may be the closest thing imaginable in terms of winning the 87kg weightlifting gold medal.

Women’s 87kg Weightlifting Odds

Wang Zhouyu -1400

Tamara Salazar +1400

Chrismery Santana +1800

If Wang Zhouyu has competed in an event, it’s very likely that she’s won it. Regardless of weight class, Zhouyu has dominated weightlifting in every way.

She has two World Championships in 2018 and 2019 and three Asian Championships to her name. On the other hand, her competitors have a combined zero gold medals across major events.

Not only is Zhouyu completely dominant in her events, but her biggest threats haven’t proved to be much of a threat at all. As said before, locks do not exist, but she is close, giving bettors a 7.14% return on their assumed lock.

TOKYO – Saturday kicks off the women’s featherweight semifinals as well as the women’s middleweight quarterfinals for Olympic boxing. Before the field gets narrowed down too much, the betting odds are still long enough to make a play on who may be awarded with the gold medal.

Women’s Featherweight: Irma Testa and Nesthy Petecio Favored

Irma Testa and Nesthy Petecio are considered the two top athletes remaining in the women’s featherweight field. The Olympic betting odds label the two as big favorites over the remainder of the field, however, they will face one another in the semifinals.

Women’s Featherweight Gold Medal Odds

Irma Testa +115

Nesthy Petecio +160

Karriss Artingstall +450

Sena Irie +1200

Essentially, sports betting sites are predicting the winner of Testa vs Petecio will move on and end up with a gold medal around their neck.

Testa previously fought at lightweight, but since switching weight classes has been very impressive. She holds a 128-24 record and is just 23-years-old.

Petecio has struggled at times in her career and has even lost twice to Sena Irie making for an unfavorable matchup if that were to be the final grouping.

For safety, betting on Testa is likely the best move and the plus-money value is still there.

Women’s Middleweight: Lauren Price On Upset Alert?

The women’s middleweight division is another interesting betting spot, as it’s not all that common that betting on boxing can yield a plus-money ticket on any available choice.

However, that is in fact the case in this division.

Team GB's Lauren Price eases through the middleweight round of 16 at the Tokyo Olympis, beating Mongolian Munkhbat Myagmarjargal

Women’s Middleweight Gold Medal Odds

Lauren Price +120

Li Qian +260

Nouchka Fontijn +325

Zenfira Magomedalieva +650

Lauren Price is the favorite, but there may be more value on some of the other options. Li Qian holds a win over Price, but it was back in 2014.

The two haven’t fought since and they are both much improved, but at +260, she could be the best bet. Qian won bronze in this division in 2016 and has since won gold in a World Championship and done so twice in Asian Championships.

TOKYO – There are likely many people who watch the Olympics that don’t happen to catch any of the badminton events. However, for betting purposes, it can be fruitful and worth the watch.

The mixed doubles and men’s doubles are the first of the badminton events to crown winners.

Mixed Doubles: Both Chinese Teams Hold Shortest Odds

The mixed doubles event is projected to be a lopsided event. Not only does a Chinese team have -450 odds to win, but the next closest team is also from China.

Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong are considered to be by far the best duo in the competition, at least according to the Olympic betting odds.

Tokyo 2021 - Mixed Badminton Doubles

Zheng Siwei & Huang Yaqiong (CHN) -450

Wang Yilu & Huang Dongping (CHN) +550

Yuta Watanabe & Arisa Higashino (JPN) +750

Tang Chun Man & Tse Ying Suet (HKG) +3300

Siwei and Yaqiong cruised through group play and the quarterfinals without dropping a single set.

Not only did they win, but often they won easily. The average score of their eight sets thus far is 21-14.

The pair will play the Hong Kong team but should have no issue advancing to the finals. It doesn’t take a Olympic badminton expert to see just how dominant this team is.

Men’s Doubles: Indonesia Slightly Favored Over Japan

The men’s doubles event is expected to be much more competitive as even the favorites find their odds in plus money. However, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t clear-cut favorites.

Indonesia and Japan have their odds set moderately shorter than the rest of the pack.

Tokyo 2021 - Men's Badminton Doubles

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon & Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (IDN) +125

Hiroyuki Endo & Yuta Watanabe (JPN) +225

Li Jun Hui & Liu Yu Chen (CHN) +500

Mohammad Ahsan & Hendra Setiawan (IDN) +600

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo are the favorites, but may not be the best bet.

The team lost one of their group stage matches and despite the grouping being labeled the group of death, there’s ample reasoning to believe that Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe are the true top team.

The Japanese pairing got through group play without a loss, without dropping a set, and having the largest point differential (+53) of any team in the tournament.

The bracket is set up in a way where they could meet the Indonesian team in the finals which would make for a very exciting match.

It is a known fact that China dominates the Synchronized Diving odds in each and every event that they participate in.

At the previous Summer Olympics, China’s main goal was a clean sweep. They won five gold medals in the sport at the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney, six in the 2004 Athens Olympics, seven in Beijing in 2008, and in the 2016 Rio Olympics, they came their closest when the women won gold in all of their events, but the men failed to obtain gold in just the 3m Springboard event.

Aside from their supremacy in the Olympic Synchronized diving events, they are known in world competition as well. Since 2016, they have competed in the World Cup competition and the Asian Games in which they won gold in all events there.

They have also been a part of two World Championships where they claimed 12 gold medals.

Mexico is a minor betting favorite over Japan with +145 odds to win.

Spain has -340 odds to beat Australia for their second straight victory.

TOKYO – With 14 matches scheduled to take place this weekend, there are a couple of Olympic soccer bets that stand out a bit more than the rest.

Brazil vs Ivory Coast

Brazil is one of the favorites to win the gold medal on the men’s side so it may be unsurprising to find them as a favorite against the Ivory Coast.

However, some may argue that the Olympic betting odds should be even more in favor of the Brazilians.

Brazil vs Ivory Coast Moneyline Odds

Brazil -390

Ivory Coast +950

Draw +450

Depending on the individual, -390 might be a little too expensive to justify betting on which is why the Over 2.5 goals may be the best bet of the match.

Brazil vs Ivory Coast Total Odds

Over 2.5 -180

Under 2.5 +145

In their first matches of the Olympics, the total of Brazil’s game was six and the total of the Ivory Coast’s was three. Given that Brazil has the ability to hit this mark itself, Olympic soccer bettors should feel confident in the Over in this spot.

Mexico vs Japan

Mexico has arguably the most impressive performance of any team in the opener of the Olympics with a 4-1 win over France.

Japan looked solid as they took a 1-0 win over South Africa, but not nearly as dominant as Mexico did. Mexico are minor favorites in the matchup that leaves value on both sides.

Mexico vs Japan Moneyline Odds

Mexico +145

Japan +185

Draw +220

It’s never smart to base an entire mindset off of one performance, but Mexico looked good enough to tail until the streak ends. Mexico was likely undervalued to begin the event, and their big win in their last performance shows why.

Spain vs Australia

Spain is pegged as the favorite to win the gold medal, likely due to having six players from the Euro 2020 semifinals team joining the roster.

Despite drawing 0-0 against Egypt, this is still likely the best team in the tournament.

Spain vs Australia Moneyline Odds

Spain -390

Australia +850

Draw +420

There are other odds offered on sports betting sites such as Spain -1 at -105 odds or the Over 2.5 goals at -120 odds. While that could be enticing, the best bet for this Olympic soccer match may be to just lay the juice and take the Spaniards on the moneyline.

TOKYO — As the 2021 Summer Olympics are getting ready to kick off on Friday, Men’s Flyweight boxing is where Shakhobidin Zoirov is favored to win his second Olympic Gold Medal in a row.

Since the 2016 Olympic games, Zoirov has remained active in the boxing world having won a gold medal at the 2019 Boxing World Championships in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and again in 2021 at the Asian Championships in Dubai.

Shakhobidin Zoirov is set to represent Uzbekistan for Olympic boxing and is going into the event standing at 5 foot 6 inches and with a standing reach of 67 inches.

Olympic Boxing Men’s Flyweight Gold Medal

Shakhobidin Zoirov (UZB) +175

Yosvany Veitia (CUB) +550

Amit Panghal (IND) +700

Daniel Asenov (BUL) +900

Billal Bennama (FRA) +1000

Hu Jianguan (CHN) +1000

Galal Yafai (GBR) +1200

Gabriel Escobar (ESP) +1400

Saken Bibossinov (KAZ) +2000

Yoel Finol (VEN) +2500

Zoirov even stacks up well with other Olympic boxers having taken down Yoel Finol at the 2016 Olympics, as well as Billal Bennama, Amit Panghal, and Daniel Asenov at the 2019 World Boxing Championships.

Although betting on Shakhobidin Zoirov is the safest bet to make, those looking for longer odds can focus on Cuban boxing sensation, Yosvany Veitia.

Veitia sits with the second shortest Olympic betting odds to win the gold after having competed in both 2012 and 2016.

Defeated by eventual gold medal winner, Zou Shiming, in 2012, Veitia again lost in 2016, where he was defeated in the quarterfinals.

However, Veitia has two notable wins over the third-ranked pound for pound fighter in the world, Naoya Inoue.

All in all, Veitia is looking to win gold for Cuba for the first time since 2012.

The Olympic Boxing preliminary fights are set to begin on Monday, July 26 while the finals are set for Saturday, August 7. These events will be broadcasted on NBC and the Olympic Channel.

Kliment Kolesnikov (+175) and Xu Jiayu (+350) are both worthy competitors as well.

TOKYO – The 100m backstroke is lining up to be one of the most exciting and closely contested events in the 2021 Olympics. This event will have world record holders, former gold medalists, rising stars and more as sportsbooks are unable to separate any athlete from the rest of the field.

The Case To Be Made For Each Swimmer

The event from this field is so loaded that there truly is a case to be made for multiple athletes, even some who don’t carry odds as short as the favorites. Betting on Olympic swimming could be more profitable this year than in year’s past as there’s no true top athlete.

Ryan Murphy (+250)

Murphy is a three-time Olympic gold medalist with all three coming from the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Further, he is the world record holder in the 100m backstroke with a time of 51.85 seconds.

He qualified with a time of 52.33 seconds, relatively far off his personal best but still respectable. He won the event in 2016, but is not pegged as the favorite to defend his title.

Evgeny Rylov (+150)

Rylov, the favorite, won the bronze medal in 2016 in the 200m backstroke and will be making his debut in the 100m. Evgeny has set multiple junior world records and has recently won the 100m backstroke event in both the Naples and London matches in the International Swimming League.

Kliment Kolesnikov (+175)

Kolesnikov is just 21 years old and has 23 gold medals to his name. Although they aren’t all Olympic gold medals, it’s no cakewalk to win world championships.

He also has been recorded with a 52.13 second time in the 100m. Kolesnikov could very well be the future, but he also may succeed sooner rather than later.

Xu Jiayu (+350)

Jiayu finished behind Murphy is 2016 and was able to leave Rio De Janeiro with a silver medal. He won the 2019 World Aquatics Championship 100m backstroke, beating Rylov, Murphy and Kolesnikov.

His personal best for the event is 51.86 seconds.

Darkhorse Candidates

Even though the aforementioned group has shorter odds than the field, those looking to bet on the Olympics shouldn’t rule out a different competitor winning.

Robert Glinta (+2000)

Glinta is coming off of a gold medal in the 100m backstroke in the 2021 European Championships. And while his personal best is 52.88 seconds, he’s yet another former junior world record holder.

Mitch Larkin (+1100)

Larkin competed in both the 100m and 200m backstroke in 2016, missing the podium in the 100m and winning silver in the 200m. He has a personal best time of 52.11 seconds, meaning thus far he’s shown the ability to put up a faster time than guys like Kolesnikov.
