- Swiss watch-makers Omega continues to innovate and pioneer timing technology to uphold their title as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympics.
TOKYO - When dealing with the fastest, most powerful, and most precise athletes in the world at the Olympic Games, timing is everything.

Whether they are always shooting for the fastest time in their event or timing their entire life around these competitions, time is an inescapable key aspect of the Olympic process.
Swiss watchmakers Omega are more familiar with this process than most. Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1936, and will once again be supplying clocks, positioning, and tracking technology for this year’s Games in Japan.
Omega will be keeping track of all 339 events across 39 sports at the Olympics this year, using their tools to track and time exact movement and action from sprinters to Olympic skateboarders.
As they have done each and every year, Omega will be rolling out new innovations at this year’s Games. Omega’s evolutions in athletic timekeeping have the goal of reinventing the way people understand sports into a complete and total understanding of the action taking place.
Some of the new innovations being brought into action at the Tokyo Olympics include a new light and electronic sound starting pistol that is a significant upgrade from the previous model.
A new photo-finish aid known as the Omega Scan’O’Vision MYRIA will be rolled out in certain events. The camera technology captures 10,000 frames per second leading to the most accurate results in history.
